Undeclared soy leads to recall of two varieties of Mrs. Miller’s Homemade Jams

Mrs. Miller’s has recalled 2 varieties of their jams due to undeclared soy. The recall was initiated after an inspection found that the jam contained soy, which was not indicated on the label. The recalled jam is Smokey BBQ Bacon Jam and Spicy Chili Bacon Jam. They were sold in 9 oz glass jars over the internet, and in more than 40 retailers across the state of Ohio.

The recall was initiated after a routine inspection by the Ohio Department of Agriculture conducted a routine inspection. It’s believed that the undeclared soy originates from the Worchestire Sauce and Hickory Smoke ingredients that was used in the creation of these jams. Mislabeled products can lead to the consumption of undeclared allergens. These recalled jams contain soy.

Undeclared allergens as we know now can have mild effects, but they can also be extremely dangerous, especially for those with weakened immune systems. Children, the elderly, and pregnant women are all in much greater danger when it comes to the consumption of undeclared allergens.
