
Undeclared methanol leads to recall of “medically Minded” hand sanitizer
Another month has come, and with it another hand sanitizer recall due to methanol. This time it’s 50 thousand bottles of “Medically Minded” hand sanitizer, sold by Global Sanitizers out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Exposure to methanol is especially dangerous for individuals that are young, elderly, or have compromised immune systems. As the FDA explains methanol exposure can lead to a “coma, seizures, permanent blindness, permanent damage to the central nervous system, or death.” Individuals that make the mistake of ingesting methanol face increased risk of methanol poisoning.
The recalled hand sanitizer was distributed nationwide between July and August of 2020. Distributors have been notified of the recall by email, letter, telephone, and a press release. Global Sanitizers is working with distributors on a way to return any remaining recalled products. If you purchased the recalled product, you can return it to your retailer for a refund. So far, no illnesses have been reported related to this recall.
