Siren Birthday Cake Bites recalled due to undeclared cashews and almond butter

San Francisco, California based parent company Siren has issued a recall of Siren Birthday Cake Bites. The bites were sold in 1.07 packages throughout the nation at select Target stores.

Recalled Products:

Siren Birthday Cake Bites

Bag UPC: 8-62768-00048-3

Caddie UPC: 8-62768-00049-0

Lot Codes: 21326, 21335, 21336, 21340

Instead of a routine sample being tested and leading to the recall, the recall was actually initiated after a customer had an allergic reaction. Consumers with a nut allergy can experience an allergic reaction from consuming the undeclared cashews and almond butter. Those with severe nut allergies are at even greater risk.

The presence of the cashews and almond butter was not indicated on the packaging for the cake bites. There’s no indication from Siren in the recall on the FDA’s website as to how many lots or units were recalled. If you’ve purchased the recalled cake bites, you can return them to your retailer for a refund.
