Hand sanitizer sold in what appears to be water bottles recalled
A recall has been issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of more than 150,000 bottles of hand sanitizer because they were packaged in what appear to be water bottles. Who could possibly have thought this was a good idea?
Recalled Product:
American Screening Hand Sanitizer
8 ounce bottles
Expiration dates of 5/21/2022 and 5/24/2022
UPC Code # 8 400505179 2
Sold by American Screening LLC of Shreveport, Louisiana, the hand sanitizer was packaged in 8 ounce bottles that closely resemble water bottles. In fact, the caps of the bottles make them almost indistinguishable from small water bottles. It’s easy to see how this could be extremely dangerous for any consumer that mistakes the product for a bottle of water when it’s in fact a bottle of hand sanitizer containing 70% ethyl alcohol gel.
The recalled hand sanitizer was sold in stores nationwide and through American Screening’s website. If you purchased any of these recalled sanitizers, you should discard them or return them to your retailer for a refund.
