Do Personal Care Products Need a Makeover?
Products most of us use on a daily basis such as lotions, cosmetics, fragrances, deodorants, and sunscreen are under more scrutiny than ever. Though it’s not the products themselves that are being scrutinized, so much as it’s the chemicals used for their creation such as triclosan and bis-phenol. These chemicals have been shown to “have the potential to tip the balance toward female traits.” These findings come as the result of a 2005 study of mother-child pairs. Another major concern of PHD toxicologist Dr. Gary Ginsberg is that when the chemicals are combined with food, “we may be nudging girls towards breast cancer and boys toward infertility.”
