Antibacterial Chemical Disrupts Hormone Activities, Study Finds

Triclocarban, a chemical found in bar soaps, body washes, cleansing lotions, wipes, and detergents “can cause health problems...” The study found that triclocarban “increased gene expression that is normally regulated by testosterone” and “testosterone-dependent organs such as the prostate gland grew abnormally large.” Triclocarban has been linked to health problems such as cancer, reproductive failure, and developmental anomalies.
