Butylene Glycol is a small organic alcohol commonly used as a skin conditioning agent. Petroleum plastics act as surfactants (wetting agents and solvents). Other functions include fragrancing ingredient, humectant, and viscosity decreasing agent. They easily penetrate the skin and can weaken protein and cellular structure.
Butylene Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Ethoxydiglycol and Dipropylene Glycol are used as solvents and viscosity decreasing agents in cosmtics and personal care products.
