Up to date list of FDA recalled hand sanitizers

We've written here numerous times the last few weeks that there are serious concerns right now for any consumers purchasing hand sanitizers. As the days and weeks go by, the list of hand sanitizers recalled by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration only continues to grow.

At issue is the dangerous toxin methanol, a chemical that’s sometimes called “wood alcohol”. Absorption through the skin is dangerous enough, but consumption of methanol can be life threatening in children and adults. Exposure to dangerous levels of methanol usually manifests itself in symptoms such as: “nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death…”

The FDA has been adding to their list of recalled products weekly, and sometimes daily. A list this large that’s constantly evolving can be difficult to keep up with, fortunately, oregonlive.com has a comprehensive list of every hand sanitizer that’s been recalled (as of July 15th). Please remember, if you possess any of the recalled hand sanitizers, dispose of them or return them to your retailer for a refund. And if you’ve used or consumed any of them, please seek medical care immediately.
