Weis Markets issues ice cream recall due to foreign matter

Nearly 12,000 containers of ice cream have been recalled by Weis Markets. Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream and Klein’s Vanilla Dairy Ice Cream have been recalled due to possible presence of a “foreign matter”. The foreign matter, if present, are “metal filling equipment parts”.

The recall was initiated after a customer discovered an “intact piece of metal equipment” per the U. S. Food and Drug Administration. The piece of metal was found in a 48 oz. container of Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream. These 48 oz. containers were sold in retailers located in Pennsy;vania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and West Virginia. Customers that purchased the recalled Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream can return it for a refund. The Klein’s Vanilla Dairy Ice Cream bulk product was shipped to only one retailer in New York, and is no longer for sale.
