FDA adds “import alert” to fight against toxic hand sanitizer

The number of hand sanitizers the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is concerned about due to methanol contamination now stands at 75. In addition to the growing list of recalled hand sanitizers, a number of them are now included on an “import alert” that was released on Friday, July 17, 2020. Since the recalled products were all produced in Mexico, the aim of the import alert is to ensure the hand sanitizers in question do not make it from Mexico into the United States.

Remember, if you’ve used or ingested any of the recalled hand sanitizers, please seek immediate medical attention. And if you’re still holding onto one of the recalled products, you should discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
