    What is it?

    Chamomilla Recutita Extract is an extract of the flowerheads of the matricaria, Chamomilla recutita. The ancient Egyptians used chamomile for a wide variety of disorders. This annual herb, also known as German Chamomile or Wild Chamomile, is used as ingredient in variety of cosmetic products.

    German Chamomile is ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties, commonly used to relieve inflammatory skin conditions and calm sensitive skin. Chamomilla Recutita extract contains active Flavonoid, which are particularly useful in the care of sensitive skin. These flavonoids treat dermatitis related inflammation due to the inhibition of histamine release – a chemical that causes itching and redness.

    The herbal extract is rich in vitamin B, which explains why Chamomile has found wide application to soothe, moisturize and inhibit the growth of bacteria. Moreover, it also contains phenolic derivatives which have an antiseptic and healing properties, especially useful in relieving skin congestion. Like most organic ingredients, Chamomile has antiseptic properties and therefore it is used in natural skin care products as a skin cleanser.
