Undeclared milk leads to bagged popcorn recall

O Organics Sea Salt Organic Popcorn, manufactured by Snak King, has been recalled due to the possible presence of an undeclared milk allergen.

The recalled popcorn was sold in more than a dozen stores in 18 states. The recalled popcorn was sold in the following retailers: ACME, Safeway, King’s, Balducci’s, Jewel-Osco, Andronico’s Community Markets, Vons, Pak N’ Save, Albertsons, Eagle, Carrs-Safeway, Haggen, and Pavilions. The states where these retailers are located are: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC.

Because of the mislabeled packaging, O Organics Sea Salt Organic Popcorn does not list milk as an ingredient, so it’s possible someone with a milk allergy could consume it without knowing so. Which for those with severe allergies, could be extremely dangerous. The popcorn was packaged in a 5 ounce flexible bags. The Best If Used By date is located on the front of the bag, on the upper right-hand side.

If you purchased the recalled popcorn, you should discard it or return it to your retailer for a refund. Fortunately, so far no illnesses have been reported related to this recall.
