Listeria is a bacteria that can lead to listeriosis. Listeriosis is of most concern for pregnant women and their newborns, adults 65 or older and people with weakened immune systems. According to the FDA, others may experience symptoms such as “high fever, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea”, and a listeria infection in women can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

As of now, the source of the listeria is unknown. Checking the use-by date and lot number on the container and lid is the best way to determine if you have one of the recalled products. Customers with recalled products are being asked to return them to the retailer where they were purchased.
