Months after FDA warning, cough syrup finally recalled

In October of 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommended that parent company Efficient Laboratories recall Rompe Pecho EX and Rompe Pecho CF cough syrups due to possible microbial contamination. It took more than a few months, but Efficient Laboratories finally issued the recall in late January of this year. The recalled products are listed below. If you’re looking for the lot number and expiration dates, they can be found on the bottom of the cartons.

Recalled Products:

Rompe Pecho EX

Lot: #19F332

Expiration Date: June 2022

Rompe Pecho CF

Lot: #19H359

Expiration Date: August 2022

Rompe Pecho MAX

Lot: #19B42

Expiration Date: February 2022

Consumption of the recalled cough medicine can, “in rare circumstances”, lead to vomiting and diarrhea. As of the time of this story was posted, the company has not received any reports of adverse effects from the cough syrup. If you purchased the recalled product, it should not be used, instead it should be returned to your retailer for a refund.
