List of unsafe hand sanitizers now stands at 165

At this point, it seriously might be easier to just start writing about which hand sanitizers are safe instead of which ones are not. This realization comes after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration added a few more sanitizers to their ‘Do Not Use’ list, ultimately bringing the total to 165.

As with the other hand sanitizers in question, the issue at hand is the presence of methanol (wood alcohol) in the sanitizers. Exposure to high levels of methanol either through the skin or ingestion can lead to nausea, headaches, and vomiting. In some extreme cases methanol exposure has resulted in blindness, seizures, nervous system damage, and even death.

These products were distributed nationwide. If you purchased any of the recalled products, please discard them or return them to your retailer for a refund.
