Another hand sanitizer recall has been issued due to the presence of Methanol

Tennessee Technical Coatings has issued a recall of all lots of their one gallon HAND SANITIZER Isopropyl Alcohol Antiseptic 75% after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found it to contain methanol. The recalled hand sanitizer was distributed to retailers and wholesalers in Tennessee between April 2020 and August 2020. The sanitizer was then sold to consumers.

The use of Tennessee Technical’s recalled hand sanitizers could expose you to dangerous levels of methanol, leading to methanol poisoning.Symptoms of methanol poisoning include but are not limited to: blurred vision, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. In some cases, permanent blindness, seizures, a coma, permanent nervous system damage, and even death are possible outcomes of methanol poisoning.

Fortunately, so far no illnesses or injuries have been reported related to this recall. Customers should discard the recalled hand sanitizer or return it to Tennessee Technical Coatings. They can be reached by phone at: 931-359-6666 or by email at: ttchelpdesk@tntechcoatings.net.
