USDA issues alert about salads, wraps due to parasite worry
If you recently purchased any beef, pork, or poultry salads and/or wraps from stores such as Trader Joe’s, Walgreens, or Kroger you’re going to want to check a newly released recall list. According to the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, those products produced by Fresh Express, and distributed by Caito Foods in Indianapolis, Indiana “may be contaminated with cyclospora.”
Cyclospora, a type of parasite, causes “intestinal illness”. Diagnosing and detecting cyclospora though can be difficult, even by trained lab technicians. Consumers that have purchased these products are urged to throw them out.
