Superfood Smoothie Kits recalled due to listeria contamination

A listeria contamination is the cause of a voluntary recall of Blendtopia’s Superfood Smoothie Kits totalling nearly 30,000 cases of their 7 ounce frozen smoothie. The voluntary recall includes their Detox, Glow, Energy, Immunity, and Strength branded Superfood Smoothie Kits with Best Buy dates of: July 2021, October 2021, and November 2021. The products were sold in retailers nationwide, as well as online.

The presence of listeria monocytogenes is linked to a supplied ingredient and as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration explains, “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.” Fortunately, as of the time this story was posted, there have been no reports of illnesses related to the recalled products.

For their part, Blentopia wants consumers to know that “they’re committed to assuring consumers can have full confidence” in their products and food safety is their “highest priority”. If you purchased any of the recalled products, you should return them to your local retailer for a full refund or discard them. Customers wishing to speak with Blendtopia can reach them by calling 1-844-260-8181 Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm MT.
