Potential cyclospora contamination leads to recall of Fresh Express bagged salads

If it seems like the last few months have been full of nothing but COVID-19 news and hand sanitizer & salad recalls...it’s because that’s mostly been the case. We unfortunately couldn’t make it out of July without another bagged salad recall. Fresh Express is again recalling some of their bagged salads due to a potential cyclospora contamination.

Recalled Products:

Name - Fresh Express

Name - ALDI Little Salad Bar

Name - Giant Eagle

Name - Hy-Vee

Name - Jewel-Osco Signature Farms

Name - ShopRite

Name - Wholesome Pantry

Name - Walmart Marketside

Product Code - Z178

Best by Date - “through July 14, 2020”

These recalled salads are said to contain iceberg lettuce, carrots, and red cabbage. The recall comes on the heels of news that more than 600 people have been sickened in nearly a dozen states due to a cyclospora contamination. While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration works to determine the cause of the outbreak, consumers are “advised not to eat, sell, or serve the lettuce.” If you have purchased the recalled lettuce, you should return it for a refund or discard it. If you’re feeling ill and you may have ingested any of the recalled products, please seek immediate medical attention.
