Periodontal Disease Linked to Life Threatening Diseases

The common cold is the second most common infection, the first… periodontal disease aka Gum disease. In fact, “by the age of 35, most people have some level of gum disease.” The mouth contains over 400 species of gum disease causing bacteria. And gum disease has been linked to heart disease and stroke, diabetes, pre-term low birth weight births, as well as respiratory diseases. The earliest form of gum disease is Gingivitis, which causes your gums to become red and bleed. The best way to prevent periodontal disease is by brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, maintaining a proper diet, and with regular dentist visits.
