Dole Organic Hearts of Romaine recalled due to E. coli

2 Dole romaine lettuce products, shipped in a limited number of cases to more than a dozen states, have been recalled due to E. coli concerns. Dole Fresh Vegetables, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of their Dole Organic Romaine Hearts 3 pack, as well as their Wild Harvest Organic Romaine Hearts 12 oz.

Recalled Products:

Dole Organic Romaine Hearts 3pk (English & French Packaging)

UPC# 0-71430-90061-1

Harvested On Dates of 10-23-20 and 10-26-20

Wild Harvest Organic Romaine Hearts 12. oz

UPC# 7-11535-50201-2

Harvested On Dates of 10-23-20 and 10-26-20

The recall comes after what Dole is calling an “isolated instance” of Dole Organic Romaine Hearts returning a positive result for pathogenic non-0157 E. coli STEC from a routine sample. The test was conducted by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

If you’re wondering if you have purchased the recalled lettuce, you can verify this by looking for the Harvested-on Date and the UPC. The Harvested-on Date is notated on a sticker on the top right corner of each bag, and the UPC can be found on a stick on the bottom right of each bag. The recalled products distributed to retailers in the following states: AZ, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND and VA. Due to the age of the products, they were packaged more than a month ago, they should no longer be available in stores.

So far, the only products being recalled by Dole are those mentioned in this article. If you’ve purchased the recalled products, please discard them or return them to your retailer for a refund.
