Country Fresh watermelon recall expanded to include additional fruits

Yesterday we wrote about Country Fresh and their recall of more than a dozen varieties of fresh watermelon chunks over listeria concerns. Well, just one day later that recall has been expanded to include “cut and/or sliced apples, grapes, mangos, pineapples, and cantaloupe distributed by Walmart.” The recall is again linked to Listeria monocytogenes were discovered on or near equipment used near to where the products were packed.

The expanded recall now covers nearly 2 dozen items shipped to Walmart distribution centers and stores in 9 states. Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas received the newly recalled products. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the “best if used by” dates are October 3, 2020 - October 11, 2020.

If you purchased the recalled products, you should return them to Walmart for a refund. Walmart has agreed to remove the recalled products from their shelves.
