An allergy alert has been issued for gallon containers of Prairie Farms Premium Flavored Chocolate Milk and Prairie Farms 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk due to not being labeled for an egg allergen. The Best By Date on the recalled chocolate milk is December 4, 2020. If you’re allergic to eggs, an undisclosed allergen like this could be fatal.

1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk

The alert issued covers nearly 1,200 units of chocolate milk that were distributed, according to the FDA, “in the Chicago area, including the Northern Illinois Suburbs, Rockford, Illinois, and Southeastern Wisconsin.” As the FDA explains in their post, there was cross-contamination with eggnog. That’s what ultimately led to the recall.

If you purchased the products in question, they should be discarded or returned to your retailer for a refund. Prairie Farms is said to be taking “preventive measures to address the issue”. Customers with questions or concerns can contact Prairie Farms by phone at: 618-659-5700 or by email at: http://info@prairiefarms.com.
